This holiday season is over. Wasn't it a hard time? I think the holiday season got it's joy sucked out of it because of the aweful 2011 we had. So much ups and downs....
It started with Black Friday. More than expected participated. Of course there were the people who got trampled on, and this year was extra special with a shopper using pepper spray on another shopper. Even kids in that incident got hurt. Christmas day came with some murder-suicides. I read about two different ones. Also around Christmas, a woman lost her life due to an elevator malfunction in New York, that was horrific. On top of that I've experienced personal sickness running through my household, and extended family woes and drama. I know people who lost jobs, and even a car due to an accident. On the news I just heard of a young mother who had to shoot an intruder in her home to protect her baby boy. The tragic part is that her husband had died of cancer on Christmas day. Then there is always the concern of the homeless and the less fortunate. Some of my friends commented on how non-joyful the season was.
Usually joy gets sucked out of things because of how busy tasks get. This is what I think happened here. Activity is definitely increasing and it can get out of hand unless monitored. A good schedule with relaxation time built in is key to good health. At least that's how I see it. So take some time to get centered or grounded, meditation, exercise, and just basic time for yourself to take a break from the hectic.

Why Look Forward to 2012
While some people are predicting doom and gloom for the new year, I rather look to the rarer traits, the good ones. 2011 is ending and will soon be a distant memory. I hear sighs of relief from some. What in the world could we look forward to in the upcoming year?
In my post "2011 and other years....." I predicted 'moderate' growth in the economy in the US. Well I may have been over optimistic using that word. I seemed to have been barely any growth. 2011 prove to be a year of contraries. There was growth for some sectors and there was some downturns for others. This resulted in barely any growth at all. There was activity. And it was the activity in the markets I sensed. Activity will grow in this coming year. Hopefully the activity will translate in some significant growth in the markets. The potential is there. New companies have emerged. Older corporations have emerged from bankruptcy reorganizations. So I'm looking forward to increased activity in the financial sector.
Fledgling democracies in North Africa and other parts have an uphill climb in 2012. Factions will conflict. Societies mettle will be tested. I hope these countries will stand up to the challenge. The challenge is to put down all weapons and pick up the pen and computers and start the democratic process. They should stay in the democratic frey for years to come. Strong emotions are at work here. Unifying the different factions under issues will be the key to success. I wish them good luck.
Geo-economics seem to have their work cut out for them. Individual countries in Europe need to continue to stabilize themselves. Africa has great potential to create new business in 2012. Some African countries have been profitable in the last year. Peace and the fight against violence should help increase the economy. Russia seems murky. They need to deal with their problems before they can have an increased influence on the world, economically speaking. China on the other hand has said it will use its money to invest and create a positive force in the world. I don't doubt the Chinese's sincerity. Business people in China really want to succeed in a peaceful world.
On the geo-political side of things, I've been disturbed by reports of activity between China and the West. I fear war mongering is in the air. It would be a hard time to have another large war like World War II. China is setup now with lots of money. This can only mean that their military will be trying to get to that money and make new things, have a bigger army, and have a warlike attitude to the rest of the world. This is of a great concern. I hope we do not have a war. I would argue that a war with China would hinder the economic advances China has made and will also jeopardize the economic future of the world. Russia is still murky on the geo-politics. They now have internal protesting to the election. I predict hard times for Russia, and a hard struggle. North Korea is something people are concerned with. I have to say I don't see much concern. I do see some reform from the new leader. I also see pretty much that North Korea will go in the same direction as it has before, isolation. The North Korean people are suffering, and I don't see a change in that. Iran is also a concern. I don't see anything new for them in 2012 though. International dialogues with Iran will continue as they have been. I think Iran will stall for time.
In space, India has been progressing by launching its own satellites increasingly. NASA is in an internal battle over two factions, the cost-plus model and the new commercial services model to launch from Earth. Congress also has a hard time to wrap their brains around the new model. I do see the the commercial companies will make new strides in 2012 even with government stalls. Other space programs will continue but with revenue fights. Money seems to be sparse for space these days.
I will say that in 2012, the world will....continue as it always has. I don't see the end of the world in 2012. I choose to look at it as a renewed era of potential and advances. We just came out of an era of stalls, and declines. Rebuilding the world is the name of the game now.
Well, that's it. I do look forward to the positive things in 2012. Be careful out there, its still a jungle. Have a good year.

Self Worth
The other day, I heard that there is a different type of success that is not monetary. Apparently the internet has spawned many people's ambition in making videos, writing, commenting, networking, etc. So the younger generations are growing up with this stuff and it may cause them to measure their self worth by what they contribute rather than how much money they make. I would like to explore this self worth a bit.
Long ago in the 1800's there was a man who had no money but claimed to be Emperor. Emperor of what you may ask? Why Emperor of the country where he lived, the United States. His name was Joshua Abraham Norton. Ok, you may be grinning at this absurd information, but hear me out. Norton was a business man who lost it all and became mentally unbalanced, and called himself Emperor of the United States. Now this man may have well be a bar fly or a colorful character in San Francisco if it wasn't for his decrees and his money. He issued both. Who knows why, but his monetary notes were honored in San Francisco. One of his decrees was that there should be a bridge and a tunnel that would enable travelers to travel across the San Francisco bay. Both exist today. Norton found self worth. He had to give up money to be his self worth, and instead made himself important to himself and to his community. This is the type of self worth we are seeing growing in the internet today. Hopefully nobody will declare themselves Emperor of anything.
What do we have in the internet to make people contribute? There's youtube, twitter, facebook, google+, and many other sites that are social in nature. I write, so I use Scribd.com to let people read my work. I don't expect to make money off of it. I just like people reading my work. I also write this blog. It's fun, and it helps me hone a skill that helps me professionally. I also get a thrill that people read my blog. Its the stats that I look at. I find self worth in writing and contributing to people's lives.
If this alternate self worth perpetuates and continues to grow, what could the future look like? Perhaps we will have a utopian society like that in Star Trek as envisioned by Gene Roddenberry. I can see a society where your contribution to society is not compensated in money but in food, shelter, and transportation. Where the average person does not need money to survive. If everyone contributes to their employment, and that effort is coordinated, why would anyone need to rely on money to live? It's hard to imagine. It's hard to conceive of it, but John Lennon sang of it in Imagine. Some say that this is communism, but I beg the differ. Russian, Chinese, and Cuban communism were not like this. Marx wrote of a utopia society, but he also wrote how that would come about in his mind. That was the communist manifesto. I think the utopian society is not inherently Marxist, even though Marx wort about it. No, I think it's an innate idea in all of us. I believe it to be also written of in the book of Revelation. If what were seeing now as a change in self worth and were headed to a utopian society, then Marx was wrong in how we got there. Today we see things that are small ecosystems of a utopian society. These things include, insurance, food stamps, Social Security, Veterans Administration, Charity organizations, employee benefits, etc. You may not like the idea of a utopian society, but I think if employees were given their food, housing, and travel, then we wouldn't have a housing market collapse.
Self worth in the form of contribution is on the rise. It may not be a bad thing and it may lead to a better future for all. That is for all except the money grubbers.

Liars
I came across someones blog post a while back stating that empaths always know when someone is lying. I hate absolutes. If someone uses words like always and never and other absolute words, be assured that there are exceptions to what they are saying. One thing I know about people and empaths is that there are not two alike. There are those who are similar but there are many variations of characteristics. I would like to make a case about my opinion on empaths and liars.
Can I tell if someone is lying, well sometimes. It really depends on who. Can I tell if a hardened liar is lying, well I have not had any success at it yet. Perhaps it's because I grew up with one. Or perhaps it's because they are so good at lying that their emotions don't fluctuate when they do, but rather their emotions do fluctuate when the truth comes out. Emotions are hard. It really depends on the person and what choices they have made and how they have trained themselves. Can an empath be trained to detect hardened liars? Well, I have not heard of any limitation an empath can train to do in detecting emotions. So I have to say yes.
I hold to a certain truth, that people have two brains. They have an analytical brain which is the one we are used to, and they have an intuitional brain which is a mystery to most people. Using the intutional brain, the empath feels other peoples emotions and/or pains. Based on that information he/she can deduce what is going on. It takes knowledge of emotions to figure out what the emotion means. Much of this knowledge is based on self knowledge via experience. Another source of this knowledge can come by observing the individual's behavior or situation. It takes analytical knowledge to be able to interpret emotions to give an analytical conclusion. The interaction of the analytical and the intuitional brains is where the rubber meets the road for empaths and their ability. The ability to detect if a person is lying depends on knowledge and training.
The empath has to also figure out the levels of emotion. People have their own emotional signature. You can tell one from another based on their emotional signature. It's kind of like seeing their face. You can also tell what their current emotional state they are in. These can be done on the fly in a matter of seconds. To get deeper information requires more time, and may require a deeper state of meditation. Given all the time in the world, an empath could write a lot on a person's past, present, and future. The empath also needs to be in a good meditative state to be able to get to a depth of knowledge. The ability to detect if a person is lying depends on time and meditative state.
So to say that an empath can always tell if someone is lying is a farse. An empath can learn to detect if people are lying, but it takes time, meditative state, knowledge, training, and on the liars ability to lie. Nothing is cut and dry. Everything is fuzzy, as in fuzzy logic. We try to approximate truth with our analytical minds, but truth is more elusive than we like to think.

Diversity Of Life
In many documentaries I've seen, biologist and scientist talk about how diverse life is on planet Earth. I find this principle to be true in social situations as well. Many people I've encountered in my travels have been colorful and unique.
I met a person in an airport. We both had to wait for connecting flights. He seemed mesmerized with my accent. While my accent would seem uncommon to most people, he found it uncommon. He was able to pick up the diverse nuances in my speech. I grew up with more than one language and more than one national background. He was able to pick up some, but not pinpoint all of them. Since then, on occasion, I come across people here and there who comment on my accent. I figure that these people have a special gift. Their gift must be in their hearing. They seem able to pick apart things they here and analyze them. I cannot say I can do such things. While I enjoy music, that's where the magic of hearing stops. I can't sing, and I can't even keep rhythm. These people have a special ability. You never know who or what your going to come across.
I know a person who has never had a broken bone. She's even been in a car accident but with no broken bones. This reminds me of the movie Unbreakable. In the beginning of the movie the hero slowly discovers that what he took for granted in life was remarkable to others. He did not break. He would walk away from accidents. This prompted some self discovery and he found out how else he was different. I have encountered just a couple of people like that. I can safely say that they are strong but level headed and quiet people. They don't seem to have egos to bruise or care to prove themselves to anyone. These are amazing individuals and they have my full respect.
Some people I've encountered had a very different gift, if you can call it that. They were unlucky. Unlucky things would always happen to them. They were not necessarily devastating, but there were many of them and they happened almost on schedule or time table at regular intervals. These incidents would be things like a fender bender, or a freak accident. I used to think that these people just attracted these things to happen somehow. Perhaps they do, but now I don't think its intentional. It could be a gift, and if these people would do some self discovery perhaps they may find a way to control it. If I had to guess, I'd say that they have natural intention that is always active and it is unruly because they have not yet found a way to control it. Sometimes these people would say things like that they have tried to think positively but it did not work.
Empaths are natural sensitives to other people's emotions and/or pains. This means that the untrained empath can get into trouble and suffer various emotions throughout the day. This may seem like a disability. The trained empath can turn the disability into an ability. I know several empaths, and I am an empath as well. Most empaths just want to cope with life day by day. Others want to use their ability to help others. I have to say that it was very liberating once I found out how to control my gift. I was able to shore up the weaknesses and improve the strengths. I stopped getting in trouble with my employers, and my relationship with all people improved tremendously.
People are diverse. They have gifts. It's important for people to find out what their gifts are and how to control them. This requires some self exploration or self discovery. Our society only supports self discovery on a limited basis. It's up to each person to discover themselves. You just may be more unique and special than you thought.

Being Me
If there is one thing that defines this era since the 70's it's being ourselves. Since World War II, the idea that individual sacrifice for the good of the group was prominent. That's why companies have their employees travel all over in blatant disregard of family life. I don't like that. I'm not like that. I'm independent. I choose to be me and nobody else. I gave up the responsibility of being anyone to everyone. That's why I do not follow one established belief system. That's why I'm make one for me.
In my past lives, of what I know, I have been a part of Magick. I resonate with much of it, but I cannot go back to it in its entirety. The problem is that any belief system has truth in it with a measure of legend and useless theology. Out of most belief systems the basics tend to be true. Humans are powerful beings and are for the most part live lives that are ignorant to such power, therefore they need to be taught. Humans also have the basic choice of doing good or harm. There are many other belief systems that have similar basics to Magick such as Reiki and others and most Asian martial arts. The difference is that the Asians hold to building yourself up with these techniques and intent, while Magick tends to focus on the outer world of the human. Regardless, when a belief system is around for long periods of time, it tends to get corrupted. That's why I don't adhere to any, though I may adhere to all in one aspect or another.
So what do I do? Like my grandfather said, I steal with my eyes. I take the basic principles and try them out. So I take a practical approach. As an empath, I first had to figure out the chaos I was picking up. The practical advice from other empaths and empath psychologists really helped. I've tried different techniques such as shielding, pushing out emotion, and others for my own protection. I've experimented with intention and started to analyze it with my empathic insights. I came up with a working model of intent. I also found things that I think some don't realize. The difference and struggle the analytical brain has in dealing with the institutional brain is astounding. I often here radio commentators say things like "I don't understand how but a mother found superhuman strength to pick up a car to save her child." I wonder how is it that people don't understand that the nature of the analytical brain and its limitations. So this is what I do, I prove all things for myself.
Being myself is the greatest adventure I've been on. Sometimes it's hard because of the influence everyone else has in your life. I find it is worth it though.

How Does An Empath (HSP) Refrain From Anger
I found this question as a search in my Scribd.com account. Someone asked it, and I am attempting to respond to it. Anger is a key emotion. There are many walking the Earth that have anger, deep anger. For the empath that can be devastating. There is also personal anger that is brought on my some perceive injustice. To help, I am letting you know of some techniques that you can try to relieve anger. Many of these techniques will work for all emotions.
There are several techniques. Each technique has its place.
Let us start with an easy one. Say your walking on the Earth and you get around people who are angry at the world. It's easy to pick this anger up and make it your own. The technique here is to just let it go. Let the anger go and don't hold on to it. Let it pass through you like a river passing through a garden. You don't have to hold on to an emotion to understand it. You can just understand as it flows. If you want to help these people, listening to them is the best way. They need to talk things out.
Which leads us to a technique that is a little more proactive. When you've been with someone for a time, their anger and emotions tend to stay with you. What you can do is to push these emotions out. You need to get away from everyone (about 50 feet) and work on breathing. With every exhale you push the anger and emotion out. With every inhale, you take in the emotion from the Earth and/or the Sky (or Heavens). Actually, I like to inhale love directly from the Creator, but it takes a little practice to reach the Creator in the first place.
Another technique is a basic one for all empaths and HSPs, to ground or to center. What you do is that every so often you get away from everyone (again about 50 ft) and be calm and get in touch with your own emotions (credit Elise Lebeau's Empath Survival Program). This helps you to distinguish your emotions from other people's emotions. Serenity is the key here. If you do this periodically, you remember what its like and you don't get out of control anger as a habit.
What happens when the anger is yours? When you have been wronged?
The first thing to try is to resolve the anger by understanding the nature of the act. This may involve talking with the offender directly. This is rarely successful since acts are usually deliberate. This may help if the act was an accident. If and when you do try this, do some grounding or centering first. This will give the technique more of a chance.
So what do you do when the injustice against you was deliberate and even done in a selfish act by the offender? Ideally forgiveness is the best, but its not always possible. To forgive someone is to acknowledge the act and hold no ill will on the offender. Often it's easier to forgive if the offender is regretful. They are not always regretful. Of course forgiveness as a technique is in religion. Some religions put pressure on saying that bad things will happen to you if you don't forgive. I say working to the point of forgiveness is just as good.
If you cannot forgive, get away. Get away from the offender as far as possible. Distrust them. Don't communicate with them. This is obviously self defensive in nature. You do have to protect yourself. Some people will stay in the situation. I don't recommend that. The sooner you get away from the situation the better and the sooner you can heal. This may sound selfish, but you cannot help others if your hurt. You will only get angrier and angrier if your around the offender.
To go further, there is a technique that is called chord cutting. This techniques severs the emotional connection you have with the offender. What you do is you imagine the connection with the offender as a chord or rope or rubber tube. I like the rubber tube. Stretch the chord and keep stretching, keep on stretching, until the chord breaks. Then sit quietly without thinking and feel the peace. This gives a sense of security and freedom from the power of the offender.
There is another type of anger I like to talk about. It's the anger that comes because you seem to not get anywhere, or you don't make the advances you want to make. For this type you need to make sure you don't have any road blocks. By that I mean you remove anything that can get in the way of your goals. Then you get into a meditative state and feel yourself pushing toward your goal. Do this several times and you should see yourself going in the right direction. This should relieve the anger.
Well, I covered several techniques to help deal with anger. I will caution you against seeking revenge. Revenge serves little purpose other than selfish ones, and causes more damage and possibly escalation of a conflict. Above all you should seek to follow the Golden Rule: treat others as you want to be treated. This will avoid much anger in the first place.

Choosing Good
Every day we have a choice. We can choose to do good, that is by helping others. We also have a choice to do bad, that is to disregard the lives of others. This choice runs our lives and directs our steps. Why should anyone choose to help anyone else? It takes time, effort, and sometimes money. Let us look at what is in it for us when we choose to do good by considering the Golden Rule , multiversal love, and the good feeling.
Treat others as you want to be treated. Thus says the Golden Rule that exists in many mainstream religions. This is a principle command or suggestion to behave. The idea is that you should help those in need, and one day you might be in need and get helped the same way. This kind of helping others is basic. You see someone in physical distress, like in the story of the good Samaritan, and you provide assistance. This is so basic that laws called the Good Samaritan laws were created. This principle is also enacted when someone gives first aid or CPR. I think this principle goes beyond the physical. You can help others when they are in emotional distress as well. Often it involves listening to them, and letting them figure things out or talk through the emotion. The one thing you should never do is try to help someone who doesn't want help. Yes, your time is most likely to be used when you try to help someone. Also, your emotional expense will be required. When you need help and find others helping you, you think about helping others in return.
Emulate love. It's said that love comes from within. If we love ourselves we can love others. If we love others we love ourselves. If we love ourselves we should love humanity in general. Showing that love is to help others, whether you know them or like them or not. Counter to common thinking, you don't have to like someone to show love. You don't have to agree with them. You don't even have to believe them. Showing love is often in spite of the person your loving. We have an innate need to love. We also have an innate need to be loved. If we withhold love for anyone, will love be withheld from us? Life tends to balance itself. It may just balance itself on you.
The good feeling. Volunteers who help people often talk about the good feeling they get. It's true. There is a good feeling when you help others. I've felt this when feeding the homeless, when teaching, when helping the wounded, or helping the distressed. I guess you can say I'm a good feeling junky. Somehow I think its a good addiction. Conversely, I have felt bad passing by those in need. I have felt bad ignoring those who were in distress. When I have no time, I have felt bad. I hate that feeling. I'd rather help. I'm not perfect, but I'm trying to be better. Yeah, you can try to reason through your action of ignoring, but your just justifying and enforcing a bad habit that reflects on your person.
Taking into account the Golden Rule, multiversal love, and the good feeling, you have plenty of motivation to do good and to help people. In these hard times, there is no lack of people in distress and in need. Just lending an ear can help tremendously. Consider the good today.

Religious Freedom
There is a movement out there in the US that is trying to establish Christianity as the only religion of the Federal Government. They cite publications of the founding fathers that indicate that they were Christian. They therefore say that the principles the US is based on should be openly acknowledged as Christian and from the Bible. I disagree. The world of the founding fathers were replete with various of flavors of infighting Christianity, the principles that the US is founded on are not solely Christian, and the US uphold more principles than its founding.
The world of the founding fathers had various religions. Any religion of significance at that time was Christian. The pilgrims fled religious persecution from the Anglicans of England, which was and still is the state religion of England. Many what we consider Christian factions were regarded then as different religions. They did not agree in many ideas. In such an environment was the letter drafted by Thomas Jefferson in 1802 that established the concept of the separation of church and state. Today we have man more religions in the US. We have Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Wicca, Paganism, and Atheism to name a few non-christian based religions. We also have more christian based religions to include Mormonism, Rastafarianism, Jehova Witnessism, and Fundamentalism. So in the continual growth of the US we have broadened the definition of religion to include all faiths. As such the separation between state and all religions should be upheld. Now you may say that the state is not to infringe on religion, but religion is to infringe on state. I also disagree. The separation between church and state must be both ways in order for it to be practical. Only the religious influence on the elected officials are the only way religion is allowed to influence the state. Thus the principle of "For the People and by the People" is upheld.
The principles that the US are founded on are found in the Bible, but not only in the Bible. Among the basic principles are life, liberty and happiness. All the major religions embrace life, if they didn't they wouldn't be major religions. Who would follow such a religion? Liberty is a basic human need and throughout history people have sought it. Its often that freedom is the main drive to start a religion. Judaism started with Moses taking the Jewish people away from slavery. Happiness is also a basic human need. Part of happiness is the need to prosper. I can't think of any major religion that counters the need to prosper. For the US to make a statement of some kind that they principles the US is founded on purely Christian religion would be fraudulent. These principles are not exclusively Christian. They are innate human principles. You may say that they are Christian principles in the Bible. While this may be true it doesn't make it appropriate for the US to make or assert religious based principles. The US must keep the separation of church and state.
The US has founding principles but has many other principles that were adopted over time in the pursuit of freedom. Woman's rights, making slavery illegal, racial integration, are examples of these principles not found in the Bible. For the US to uphold only its founding principles would be denying the history and the precedence of our ancestors. If the US were to make a statement of some kind that says that it's founding principles are only Christian, then it would be denying the principles it has taken on over time by implication. You may disagree, but the US is more than just it's founding.
I have argued that founding fathers had a different religious landscape than today, that the founding principles of the US are not solely Christian, and that the founding principles are not the only principles that make up the US. The idea that the US needs to make a statement of any kind indicating favor to one religion over the rest is unnecessary and could spur infighting among the religions. This is not good for the US in any way. I thoroughly disagree with the idea that the US is based solely on Christian principles and needs to state so. The principles of the US are constantly in flux as time goes on, this is the democratic way.

Bill It's Me! is out.
I published my next small novel called Bill It's Me! on Scribd.com. It's a pure fictitious story about and Empath that helps his cop buddy solve a mystery, and thereby the world.
Yeah I kind of though of the Empath as a type of super hero. He has abilities but he also has weaknesses. He also has an arch enemy and people to care about. No, he doesn't do superhero things like flying or getting into fist fights with people.
This story took me about a year to write. My last one took me about 5 years to write. Of course with the first one I had doubts about my ability to write and not only that who would read it. That's before I hear about Scribd.com on NPR. Then I knew I could have an audience. It's pretty gratifying knowing someone reads and enjoys your work.
With this new story I tried something different. I changed the narration person about half way through. I think it makes sense and works. Now also I just started another story, a prequel to Bill It's Me! There I also change the narration person. So why am I doing this? I suppose it's because I like to get the story from the perspective of a character rather than some ominous voice deemed as the writer. You may say that it speaks to my insecurity, and you may be right. I am insecure about people paying attention to what I have to say. Even worse is when people actually take my advice. Then I feel insecure about my advice and question if it's accurate enough.
Well, there you have it. The launch of a new story. It's free, of course. I'm really a nobody so charging would be superfluous. I'm more interested in people enjoying my stories rather than making money off of them, at least at this time. Cheers.

Occupy Wallstreet: A Consideration
Occupy Wall Street (OWS) has spread throughout the United States and is gaining attention of the population as seen in the #OWS twitter tag tweet and retweets increase. They are protesting corporate and banking greed. Many of them have lost jobs and homes. They feel they also lost their dignity. The Government bailout for banks and the subsequent lack of investment into business (small and large) by banks gives the sense that the workers are taxed without being represented. Yes, it feels like taxation without representation as outlined in the Declaration Of Independence of the United States from England. As an empath I feel their emotion, there's no escaping it. I am outlining good things I see about the OWS and bad things I see about the situation.
First, the good things. OWS is a great example of outraged people embracing democracy. Protests are key to a democratic society. Without the voice of the people, tyranny is liable to dominate. I applaud the OWS for this. From reports I hear, the OWS is organized. They have set up general assemblies, legal teams, and other teams. This is very encouraging to hear. Socially OWS is a good effort to curb corporate greed. It's the first of its kind that I have heard.
Now for the bad things. What does the OWS really expect to accomplish? It is baffling to me in that why would corporate greedy managers care about what protesters say? They don't run for election. So, I really don't think they are going to come out and throw money at the crowd. Perhaps they expect some legal action. Greed is not outlawed. It may be a moral sin but not one that is punishable by the courts. Perhaps they want some legislative action? While this may be a viable request, Congress is in no shape to pass much these days. If they did pass some legislation that regulated banks and corporations, it would be a leftist solution. My understanding is that the OWS is coprised of both conservatives and liberals. I don't see any solution where everyone in the OWS will walk away happy. The other bad thing has to do with the "Nature Of The Beast", as I like to call it. The effects of the recession is bouncing around the economy. While they claim that the recession stopped in 2009, it was only the bleeding of the overall money in the economy. The effects kept going. First the blue collar workers lost their jobs, then the white collar workers, home owners lost their housed in foreclosures. Then small businesses started to fold, mid sized businesses folded or were squeezed, and big businesses started to cut expenses even after firing workers. Municipal governments had to cut back spending, State governments did the same, and the Federal government is cutting spending now. That means more people loose their jobs. The effects have reached the big business and corporations management, that means soon it will reach the investors and share holders. Wall Street is ready to take a hit. This is all is in-spite of the efforts of OWS. I'm afraid that OWS is too late or too early. However, it could pressure share holders to consider what to do with their money. They should invest in new businesses and new business strategies. The old business playbook has to be tossed because the market has changed irrecoverably. Until all are on board with the new market, the pain will continue. This is perhaps the greatest problem with the recession. Counterintuitive to my argument, this is where OWS' purpose may lie. That is the final push to get banks and investors and corporate boards to understand that there is not going back to the old market and that this new market is here to stay, so they need to adjust.
Well, that was fun. Looking at the good things and the bad things that go along with OWS, I can conclude that indeed OWS has a real social goal they could/should follow. One thing to add. I don't know the chants of OWS but I have a suggestion. Try telling Corporate America, "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE RUNNING AROUND LEAVING SCARES.....". Yes, that is the words to Christina Perri's Jar Of Hearts. It's a heart break song that seemingly depicts the outrage of OWS. I think it's quite fitting.
Cheers.

Sensitives and Energies Continued...
In my previous post titled Sensitives and Energies, I depicted a technique to get rid of energies suddenly put upon the sensitive person so that the negative or unwanted result is not realized. Since then I've been using it more extensively as a great way to deal with life's little surprises. I found that it is an adaptable technique to various personal situations.
My loved one talked to me while stressed out over family drama. You know the kind of talk, where hear about how so and so is not doing right and how they are referred to with colorful modifiers. The talk that may last about an hour and you can't seem to get a word in edgewise. The kind of talk and energy that fills you up to capacity that you feel like you have to explode. I struggled with this until I tried to bleed off the energy by pushing it out with intent. It worked. I felt better, even calmer. To my surprise I even pushed the energy out while she was talking to me. It worked well. At the end of the conversation I felt better and I could give a good empathic response and a hug. This is great. I feel like I'm starting to do what was described in Star Trek The Original Series episode called The Empath. Unlike Diana Troy in The Next Generation, this empath would absorb energy, even wounds, and then heal herself. In a similar manner I'm finding a way to heal myself while I naturally absorb energy of others. I think it's pretty cool.
Another situation is where I had to deal with a difficult person at work. I naturally absorbed her energy. After the incident, I still had the energy absorbed and it was causing me to be absent minded, almost stumbling. I then pushed out the energy and I felt great. For the rest of the work shift I was in a very good mood. It seems that pushing out energies brings a renewal and even relief, like a burden is lifted.
This pushing out of energies is one more tool to put in your empath tool-belt. Others include shielding, letting energy/emotion pass through you, and grounding or centering. Perhaps there are more but I don't know them. This particular technique allows you to maintain yourself after or during an incident. Shielding and letting energy pass through you are best implemented before an incident happens. Grounding should be done every day with some meditation. These tools can help make life less painful, more empowering, and enjoyable. To me joy in the heart is a good indicator that things are alright.
I hope sharing these situations where I applied pushing out energies encourages you to try them yourself and explore the wonder and vastness that is you. Learning yourself is the first step to changing the world.

Sub-Hero
Have you ever, and you may not have, been embarrassed or ashamed by your heritage? You may come from a people that have committed atrocities or have certain attitudes of types of people. In history we read that many people have died in the 20th Century. World War I saw the advent of wide spread chemical warfare, of the tank, and of the airplane bomber. Thousands died in it. Then thousands died under the Third Reich due to pure racism. Thousand also died in the Soviet Union under Stalin. Thousands died in China in the cultural revolution. The killing fields of Cambodia were striking. Murders upon murders in South and Central America were horrifying. And what is yet to be told of the bloodiness in North Africa under the dictators of Egypt and Libya and others? The genocide in Central Africa also comes to mind and many more incidents. It was a bloody century, perhaps the bloodiest of them all. What if you came from the people who committed those atrocities, or a people who had the attitude that lead to the massacre of thousands? What if you were ashamed of these attitudes and tried to counter them? I dare to coin a term for this, a sub-hero. I will endeavor to define what a sub-hero is and does.
A sub-hero hates. Of the first steps a sub-hero makes is that of realizing and hating the heritage of murderous attitudes. He/She owns them. He/She puts intent to not repeat them, ever. He/She mourns the loss of lives and the loss of dignity. The past is past and the sub-hero does not dwell in the past but looks to the future.
A sub-hero warns. Any time the sub-hero encounters the murderous attitudes, their blood goes cold. They cringe at it, and sneer at it. Then the verbal counter to these attitudes comes out. Due to tactfulness, a fight with the promoters of these attitudes can be adverted. Loving the promoters as well as the victims is necessary to the sub-hero. If he/she looses them then the war is lost. Getting others to shun these murderous attitudes is the key. Thus the sub-hero guards the sanctity of love and peace.
A sub-hero is not praised. There is no honor to being a sub-hero. The very nature of their state is shameful. They may not reveal their identity with the atrocious heritage. Who would praise them? Who would look up to them to emulate? None dare. A sub-hero's path is lonely and ungrateful, and yet it's necessary. It's a cross to bear and a penance to perform.
A sub-hero hates, warns, and is not praised. This is a first definition of this term. This World needs sub-heroes. Our societies need healing. Our people need teaching. If the human race is to take the next step towards enlightenment, then murderous attitudes need to be left behind. We need to grow up and face each other with our problems and work them out rather than having the cowardly cop-out of murder.

Sensitives and Engergies
Have you ever been yelled at out of the blue? Do you remember how it felt. Did you yell at someone else a short time later? It's said that strife begets strife. I think this is true for all humans and animals. It seems to be natural to propagate the hate. There is something going on in this process. There is an exchange of energy. Most people can get yelled at, then yell at someone else, and then forget about the whole thing with apparently little consequence. Sensitives or empaths get yelled at and their whole day is torn apart. They may try to hold it in because they don't want to yell at anybody. They may also inadvertently yell at someone. This is because we cannot hold such energies in. Getting to understand the problem may reveal some techniques that can be tried to not hurt someone or yourself.
In order to understand the energy transfer we need to understand the energy itself. Often when someone yells at someone else it originated via fear. Someone fears that they have been wronged, for example. They then ponder and get angrier and angrier. Then at the first chance, they yell at whoever they think wronged them. The fear transfers from one individual to another and they cycle propagates itself. It acts like a self replicating computer virus and runs its course through a group of people. Stress is a side effect of such energies. How do I know this? I lived it far too often. My family has been a continual victim of this type of energy. The danger is that these energies can take a life of their own and rule the lives of the people they affect.
I recently found a way to deal with these energies. When a passenger plane gets hit by lightning or in proximity to a charged cloud, it gets charged. It holds the charge until it makes a landing. There have been photographs of B-52s and other aircraft making a landing just before touchdown and the photo would show a discharge of lighting from the wingtips down to the ground. This fact is a good analogy of my technique. When you get yelled at and you have a chance to get away, then concentrate and force the energy to dissipate out of your body through your fingers, head and feet. It seems to take 10 to 20 minutes, but the results are astounding. You feel lighter and freer. You will still feel the results of the stress you went through, but at least your not propagating the fear. I had a chance to put this into practice the other day. The result was that fear was defeated and the person who originally started the fear went back to act normally. This technique seems to give the sensitive the ability to heal him/her-self. Sensitives naturally absorb energies like a sponge. A sponge need to be ringed out. Letting the energies go into the ground is a very good way, the Earth should be able to take it.
There are a couple of things that can be done but give a very negative result. A sensitive can reflect the energies back to the person who's yelling. This will demoralize the person and you may end up loosing this person as a friend. Another thing is to yell at someone else. I really hate doing this. It has caused me no end of grief and guilt. Both of these acts hurt people. The best thing is to dispose of the energies.
Passing on fears via yelling is a big problem in our society. It's a form of abuse. Through understanding of the energies and their propagation, knowing a good technique, and being aware of what not to do can help deal with this menace.

Empathic Intelligence
On the BBC I heard that western women have turned to Islam in a post 9-11 era. If you look at the idea of women joining Islam intellectually, you could not conceive that there would be an attraction since Islam is seemingly male dominant and female subversive. These women are first curious about the ideals of Islam. Then they see how women in that faith act, how they give even-though they have next to nothing. This curiosity and attraction seems to be a similar drive that of a scientist investigating their field or a investigator investigating their case. It used to be that men would just chalk this up to just women's emotions, but I believe there is something more inherently viable and even important. These women are using empathic intelligence. To learn from people by applying empathy is empathic intelligence. I want to explore what this means in a practical sense. I will share an article from a psychological periodical, I will share my own experience, and I will explore the importance of this intelligence.
In Psychology Today I found an article titled Empathic Intelligence: To put yourself in their shoes, unlace yours by Dr. Jeremy Sherman, 21 May 2009. Where Dr. Sherman defines Empathic Intelligence as "is the ability to hold two opposed positions in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to think for yourself." He also uses the analogy of swapping shoes. If you go to a shoe store to buy shoes your going to try them on and your going to walk in them before making a decision to buy them. You have to feel them out. You determine the pros and cons of the shoe before making your decision. So it is with empathy. If your in the market for a new religion, you look for something that catches your eye. You look around for examples of people in that religion. You may even try it out for a time, that is visit a monument, read a story integral to the teachings, spend a day with those who follow it. Your weighing, measuring, and feeling the religion in order to make a decision to convert or refute. What your doing is exercising empathic intelligence. Dr. Sherman holds that this type of intelligence requires putting yourself at risk, and implies that there is a certain amount of courage needed to proceed.
I have felt like a mimicker since childhood. I am a natural empath and as such can't help but to put myself in people's shoes. Once I was so effective in my shoe swapping that I convinced another boy that I could speak German, and he was German. I learned to swim by watching and feeling out people. Nobody taught me how to do breast stroke or crawl, I just did it. Nobody taught me how to sail a boat, I watched my father teach my brother, and years later just went out and sailed the boat by myself for the first time. I even had to tack in back to the beach. These things I learned by applying empathic intelligence.
Empathic Intelligence is important, though it has not been given much attention. The Christian religion started small with a man who taught and made miracles. People were drawn to him, they wanted to be like him. He had a way of invoking empathic intelligence in his followers. Often in his texts and those of his followers we find that people wanted to emulate him in every way. Many did even to death. But centuries later, the religion took a analytical tone. Principles were outlined, texts were standardized, doctrines were writ, and dogmas were upheld. Even today you find many churches applying analytical intelligence to define the religion. You also find many churches that do not feed the poor, help the sick, house the homeless. Analytics can make a religion more palatable but it can also kill off its spirit. It's no wonder that the Methodist movement bloomed in the 1800s and the Pentecostal movement blossomed from the 1960's through the 1980's. These movements applied empathic intelligence that won over crowds of people. This is in stark contrast to the "well defined" faiths that loose people and can even cause oppression. Empathic Intelligence invigorates the soul and a lack of it can starve the same soul.
I have looked at an article, shared personal examples, and shown the importance of empathic intelligence. Learning to feed the empathic intelligence in people can give you followers, it can make you popular. That can be good and bad. It's a tool to be wielded and it's a might tool at that. Learning to use it for your own learning is important to being a perpetual student. I hope this brings to light what empathic intelligence is and how important it is to people.

Sustainability the Urban Way
I recently saw a documentary that showed Jean-Michelle Couteau (son of the legendary oceanic explorer Jacques Cousteau) and his team in the Amazon. By the way, you can see Couteau's legacy at http://www.cousteau.org/. This triggered in me some new and old ideas in my head. Cousteau's team maintain that agriculture and natural habitat can coexist successfully with some education. Today urban areas rely on rural areas for resources such as food and raw material. I think we should start making urban areas sustainable. Growing food and recycling processed materials for raw materials are a couple of ideas worth investigating.
Of the many things that are transported to urban areas, not many are as quite important as food. We could try to grow food in the urban landscape. Some people are thinking about growing crops indoors, and some even are looking to do that in an abandoned high-rise building, or at least in a building with several floors. The biggest question I have for such a project is can we grow crops with artificial light? Being able to use artificial light to grow crops is going to be essential for vertical farms. I assume some full spectrum light would be required. If such a light could be delivered from LEDs then the keep up cost should be low. We have hydroponic technology, which does not require soil, but does require nutrients and light. We also have a good understanding on what constitutes soil and how to compost. Using processed soil/compost or hydroponics have their own set of pros and cons. I suppose either could be used in a vertical farm. Such a vertical farm could potentially grow crops year round. One idea I had was that a farms could use the elevators to transport customers to the floor where the crops reached harvest. Thus crops don't have to be moved anywhere while they grow, just redirect the customers and services to the crops. There could be a floor for composting and nutrient handling. Electrical power would be key to keep up. Solar panels on the roof would be great, but also custom wind generators would be good to use in conjunction with solar panels. Of course today we have the choice of using photovoltaic solar panels or solar thermal panels to generate electricity. In my mind I wonder how much intake it such a farm would need. Like any processing plant, the intake has to equal the output. Some fertilizer would be needed to intake, seeds would be needed as well. Water could be managed and possibly reclaimed. Reclaiming nutrients via composting and water would help reduce the overhead of materials needed in such a farm. If such farms could be viable they may reduce the travel time of materials to urban areas thus reducing the gas needed to transport them.
For raw materials, there is already a recycling market. Metals, plastics, oils, battery material, paper are some of the raw materials being recycled. In any urban area there is a recipe of raw materials that is used. Identifying these materials and amount could be key to start a concerted effort to recycle materials from waste. In some cases I'm sure there would be needed some research to break down materials to more basic parts that are usable. This effort would require a large amount of energy. Using renewable energies such as solar and wind could augment the energy needed. But I think some major source of energy would be needed such as nuclear energy. One idea I had was to reclaim materials from air pollutions such as carbon and others. So I say more research in recycling is needed.
The International Space Station has a module that reclaims waste water for astronaut and cosmonaut consumption. Many cities in the world suffer from a lack of water. Reclaiming waste water is a technology that can help many people around the world. Urban areas have benefited in the past from the cleaning of their rivers that were used for waste. London and Madrid come to mind. Going a step further to reclaim water can provide the diverse uses of water in urban areas. We drink water, we give water to our animals, we water our lawns and gardens, and we use water to transport waste. Actually, finding an alternative way to transport waste besides water could benefit many urban areas as well. Not having to use water to transport waste makes the water available for other uses.
Urban areas take in raw materials and create waste. They are rich in materials that can be recycled. They are also ever growing with more and more people. We could do so much more in the areas of food production, recycling materials, and reclaiming water. Doing so could make urban areas greener and more friendly to the eco-systems of Earth.

Getting Out of Emotion
I recently attended a presentation on emergency psychology. In there they mentioned that some victims get distraught and may have physiological effects after a disaster, small or large. Often if you get these people out of the place where the disaster happened they get better and feel better. This prompted a reminder of something I learned early in my discovery of my gifts as an empath. Emotion lingers in physical places.
How many times people have said, "It feels like home?" How many times have you gone to work during your off time and it feels like your at work rather than on your off time? This is why men tend to not hang around their work places while on their off time, of course it also ties into their sense of identity and their changing of hats or function. As an empath I go into an art studio and I can feel the emotion of creating the art, the fears, the intensity, the focus. When I go into a library I automatically pick up on the reading atmosphere and the quiet emotion going on. When I go into a University's computer lab I can feel the fear and anxiety that comes with writing papers even when nobody is present at the time. Emotion of the people previous present at a place lingers.
When I was a child I got very sick. I was nauseous. My brother gave me a model of a Mig 21 to build. I built it while sick. Afterward everytime I would touch that model, I would feel nauseous. You may think that this was because of the memory in my brain, but if that was so why wouldn't I feel nauseous just looking at a picture of any Mig 21? If you talk to a knot and rope expert you may find out something curious, rope gets a memory. If you talk to a battery expert they will tell you Ni-Cad batteries get a memory. Memory is nothing more than a recorded imprint, it doesn't have to be software. What I am suggesting here is that emotion got imprinted on the model of the Mig 21.
So what does this mean? It means that emotion is tangible thing that exists even outside someone. This may also suggest that things get affected by emotions. Perhaps even space-time gets affected by emotion as well. Granted this is a radical thing to say. For decades, science has been telling us that it's all in our head. They tell us that our emotions are our emotions and something is wrong with us when we get overwhelmed. These days Physics has got into the surreal. They talk about not only space-time as an entity but also about 11 dimensions to include multiple universes. The warp drive concepts assume that space-time can be manipulated. Einstein calculations show that mass and lasers can affect or warp space-time. Is it really so hard to understand that emotions can imprint space-time?
Places get altered by emotions which linger and affect people. Empaths know this, and rescue workers know this on a practical level. Knowing when to leave or stay at a location can help you get away from severe negative emotions and help you linger in a place with very good emotions. Here is another tip, as you start to live in a new place and make a home make your emotions positive. End fights on positive notes, and surprise your loved ones with joy. This will help make your place full of positive emotions, a place you want to come back to.

Ancient Aliens and 2012 Apocolypse
Due to the end of the Mayan Calendar in 2012, many believe catastrophic events that will happen. I'm a skeptic at the dogmatic idea of this premise. Yet something has got my attention that could fit a more reasonable interpretation of the events of this age.
I've been watching Ancient Aliens show, a production of the History Channel. This show suggests a unified theory based on ancient writings from many civilizations, history, evolution, and creationism that says extraterrestrial aliens modified primates to create the homosapien and have shown themselves as gods throughout history. Sure, on the surface this seems like a bad or good sci-fi story. Shows like Stargate, 2011 Space Odyssey, and Star Trek have used this idea in their stories. As I watched the show, the things they say and expose seemed to lay out a pattern that is hard to argue against. One thing that was shown is that the Mayan calendar shows an overall time just over 6000 years. The Bible shows from the time of Adam to now is around 6000 years. This means that the time of the creation of modern man was around 6000 years ago. Is this a coincidence? Perhaps not if the creators of man was in fact extraterrestrials instead of a god(s) we have come to believe in. This theory would explain not only the time coincidence but the diversity of civilizations and beliefs throughout history. At the same time this does not negate the theory of evolution.
Ancient texts from several civilizations suggest that gods or angels came on Earth, taught us skills in a diversity of technology, and procreated with man to create powerful characters. Gensis 6, the Book of Enoch, Nors folklore, and Greek mythology all tell this story. That would make Hercules a type of alien hybrid, and Zeus a womanizing alien according to Ancient Alien theory. As you can see the very different cultures tell the same story and Ancient Alien theory tells why that is.
The Mayan Calendar shows the end is in December 2012. The Bible shows catastrophes happening in the book of Revelation. My own insight as an empath showed me in 2001, that 2010 was a key point in time for the Earth. 2010 is the first full year we had to live with the effects of the Great Recession. Also by 2010 we live in a time post the 2004 Tsunami, 2005 Katrina Hurricane, 2001 9/11. In 2010 we had great human suffering in the Haiti Earthquake. I see all these as part of a great shakeup of the planet Earth. Rather than pointing to one date to say the sky is falling, I look at a pattern over time of things happening. This is an era of change. I also see 2010 as a middle point in this change. We may not be out of the woods yet.
Will the Apocalypse occur on a certain date in 2012? I don't think so. I think this apocalypse is over time, and its more of a change than the end of the world. Will aliens come and show up to tell us how to proceed? Maybe not in an overt way, but perhaps to certain individuals as they have throughout history.

2011 to 2012
Its come to my attention that this summer, 2011, has financial analysts worried. The recent reports of the low job growth has made everyone uneasy. Some has gone as far as to fear a double dip recession. As an emapth feeling the future I don't see a double dip recession. I see slow growth.
In a previous post entitled 2011 and other years, I described what this year and the next few years look like. I picked up on a vibe of activity that starts in 2011 as a murmur and exponentially grows to a frenzy by 2015. This is a vibe of business activity. As far as I understand economy, recessions grind things to a halt, but booming business is full of activity. That's why I'm saying that the economy will grow, and grow exponentially.
This should be good news to investors. New business is needed to bring us out of this "slump". New ideas must flow and grow. With new business new jobs need to be created.
Unfortunately for the time being we have this very slow growth. It's summer after all. Summer is not a time of economic growth. Many people take vacation during this time. What if we didn't. What if we didn't take vacation and made summer a working summer? The economy would grow faster.
This is time not a time to look at report numbers for inspiration. This is a time to go with your gut feeling. Take your dream and work it. Don't go out on a limb though. Protect yourself as you go.
Good luck.

Writer's Block, finally!
Its been about two weeks since I posted. Like most writers I guess I got a case of writer's block. This is the first I ever had it in many years.
Why do we get writer's block? I can only speak from my own experience. It seems like this time its because the brain doesn't want to write anymore. I've been writing a lot lately. Writing for class and trying to start some freelance writing is taking its toll on the brain. Hopefully this is only temporary, and I will get back to my usual self writing about stuff I believe in and how the world needs to change.
In the meantime I have this block. I'm reminded of Lucy of the Peanuts by Charles M. Schultz where she called Charlie Brown, "YOU BLOCKHEAD!" My head feel a little like that now. So its stress that causes the writer's block.
Perhaps a good centering or grounding will do me good to release the stress from day to day living. Reading what's going on in the world might help as well.
Libya is still struggling, Europe still has recession issues and the far right still hold the Republican party hostage. In these days of extremes, you hardly can see a moderate in sight. SpaceX is going to court over a critic. This makes me believe that there are people who have a hard time to let go of the old way of doing things in space. Its time to embrace the new. The new is the now. The same goes with business'. Those companies who don't or can't change fast enough will suffer and possibly go through restructuring or be bought out.
There see? Writer's block is starting to fade. I hope I can keep it up. Take care y'all.

Writogasms
Have you ever had a writogasm? The other day I did while writing my final paper for the week. It was for one of my classes in a masters program. I remember writing and getting into it. It seemed that I couldn't type fast enough as the ideas raced through my head. I finally took a break, and discovered I felt a sense of euphoria.
The feeling took me aback because I never felt it before. This last week was a very busy week for me. I ended up writing 3 papers for class and 3 articles, not to mention this blog. That's a personal record. I have never written so much before. I wondered if other writers experience this as well.
I'm sure there are writers who can punch out a couple of long chapters in a novel in the course of a week. I never have, yet. So pardon my inexperience if how much I wrote this week seems like nothing. I'm just glad I was able to do it. It means that my migraines are under control.
Whether much or little is written, I feel that if I'm progressing as a writer then its worth a little celebration. Hence, the writogasm. ;-)

Space To Settle
Have you ever dreamed of living in a place that is not Earth? Have you thought of how fun it would be in zero G? Or of cultivating crop on the red planet? These themes may smack of science fiction, but in a world that is mostly explored Earth is quickly becoming a non-frontier. The human race has thrived exploring and expanding their abode into new territories. After this sphere is conquered where is there left to go? One place to go is up. Some say the inner solar system is the next frontier. To settle space is to keep the human race going.
People have explored since, well, since we wanted to know what's over the hill. We want to see, touch, smell and experience and place or environment. The famed explorers went around the globe. They searched for various things but most of all they just wanted to see for themselves these surreal landscapes. We know their curiosities paid off when you consider the sights like the Pyramids, Lake Victoria, Teotihuacan, Chaco Canyon. We have explored not only to find monuments natural and man-made but also to create trade, countries, and exploit the natural resources. The central part of Africa was explored as late as the 1800s by Dr David Livingstone. Because of his successful exploration trade route were established into the interior of Africa for the first time. Exploration is in our makeup as human beings. We have an insatiable need for new knowledge and exploration satisfies that curiosity. Space offers much to explore. From asteroids to moons of Saturn and Jupiter to Mars and even Venus, space is a great frontier.
Part of the challenge of exploration into new areas is the need to adapt to the area or the need to make devises to help us live in that area. From our oldest ancestors, we have clothes. Clothes warm us and protect us from things hitting or scratching our skin. We have shelter. Shelter keeps us from rainfall and snowfall. We have heat. We made heat with fire and now with sophisticated heat pumps. We have air conditioning. Air conditioning keeps us cool in our shelter for the warm summer months, or in some places year around. Taking Dr Livingstone example again, part of his success was due to the medical knowledge of how to deal with diseases like malaria. Today we have medicine and mosquito nets to keep us from such diseases. Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit of Mount Everest with the aid of oxygen breathers. In Space Astronauts, Cosmonauts, and Taikonauts take not only oxygen but air pressure with them so they can stay alive. Even the EVA suits (astronaut suits to conduct walks in space and on the moon) are more like a space ship with arms and legs than they are a suit. Today one of the main problems to solve in space far away from Earth is that of radiation. There is too much radiation in deep space (inside the solar system) to allow for humans to stay alive. We have a need to develop technology that can deal with that problem if we want to go exploring or even settling.
The 1800's because of Dr Livingstone's exploration, Africa was part of the mindset of people in the western world. The story of Tarzan was popular, and a myriad of movies, books, and songs were made about Africa. It was viewed as an exciting, daring, and dangerous place full of potential riches. At the same time of Dr Livingstone exploits, the abolitionist movement made some significant strides in ending slavery in the Western countries, which lead to the Emancipation Proclamation by President Lincoln. Explorers of the day had their hand in the abolitionist movement. Today we have the exploration of science that excite some. We also have Space exploration that excite much of the population. The Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, became beloved characters to both the public and the human explorers at the rovers' controls. Now we have a growing number of people talking and dreaming of going to Mars to settle. The Mars Society is a non-government group that seeks exploration and settlement of Mars. The red planet has become a major goal for many because its been identified as a place where the possibility of settlement with today's technology is potentially feasible. OK, so its still a big challenge. Other place to settle include the Moon, Asteroids, Venus and even deep space itself. Finding out how we can live in such environments is a major job of the International Space Station (ISS). One of the personal and social effects of low earth orbit has on Astronauts and Cosmonauts is the change in perspective they got by looking down at the Earth for the first time. They see how thin the atmosphere is and how vulnerable everything they have known all their lives. Virgin Galactic is going to send up paying passengers to suborbital space soon and many will get that first look of the Earth. I predict that they will write about their experience and they will have a change in perspective. Settlement in space can also change the perspective of the population at large, perhaps we will finally learn to treat our planet right.
conclusion
Keep the human race going is key to our survival. Expanding to the stars is the way to go. Settling in the inner Solar System is our next step. It satisfies the human curiosity by going to Mars, Asteroids, and the like. It challenges us technically by learning ways and making things to help us survive in harsher environments. It also helps in the evolution of the human social behavior by challenging our perspective and making us change for the better. Get ready, its coming sooner than you might think.

Freelance Writing for Examiner.com
Examiner.com is a news site that I never heard of until I searched for writing jobs locally.
In the search Examiner.com came up looking for specific freelance writers. I checked out their site, and its a news site for local news. The funny thing about it is that its actually nation wide. But when you log on or go to their site, it will default to your local city. You can also select other cities.
They hire freelance writers for who can write for their own communities. The writers apparently get paid by readership. So it may not be profitable at the beginning, but its seems to be a good way to get writing professionally.
O K I'll admit I have applied. It was a simple 3 step process and at the end they said I would get a response in 2 weeks. In the process you select what areas you want to write about from their selection. Then you can add one and only one subject of your own. Too bad I had a couple in mind.
You might ask what I wanted to write about. Well I wanted to write about Space programs and Aerospace. I love these subjects. I have all my life. If your asking why don't I just do that here on this blog, my answer would be because this blog is my way to freely be myself as an intuitive. Writing about Space and Aerospace is a analytical exercise.
So you might want to check out Examiner.com for your local news and commentaries. You never know who is reporting what. It just might be your neighbor.

Disapointed about May 21st 2011?
I had a dream yesterday. In the dream I got reports that people and two very popular idols committed suicide. This dream startled me intensely. The way I interpret this dream is that there is a real concern that people would want to commit suicide. What about the two idols? I won't name them but I interpret that as representing fans at large or the people at large. In light of this disappointing prediction of end of the World or the Rapture for May 21st 2011, disappointment and depression leading to suicide is a real concern. If you were affected, it's possible to reconstruct your life and continuing on and allowing yourself to be emotional and give yourself time can help.
You can reconstruct your life. That may seem like a tall task right now. At one point in my life I lost everything. I only had the clothes on my back. One step at a time I was able to get a job, rent a place and slowly reconstruct myself and my life. During that time I thought a lot. I had to put on hold everything I had believed and one by one test each idea and modify them if needed. It was a hard thing to do, but I had no other real recourse. I also started to make new friends. People helped me here and there and I tried to help others as well. Love for myself and for my fellow man became the most important thing for me. There were fears but I had to put them aside and do what I felt I needed to do. If I did it you can too. It takes some thinking and some time and some research, but it can be done. Try to find out details about the direction you feel you need to go before you go do it.
One of the first healing things to do is to let your emotions flow. Allow yourself to feel anger and sadness. Out of my own experience, being scammed and being robbed is the same feeling. Tell yourself it's OK to cry. Give yourself time and place to mourn.
One of the things that have been helpful for me in reconstructing my life was to take time for myself. What I mean by that is to take time to rest and be entertained. Some people consider entertainment as a way to kill time, but it can be a way to learn lessons from stories that writers try to convey. Many Sci-fi stories are like Aesop fables in that they have morals to their stories. Action stories can help take out frustrations as well as romantic or even erotic stories. Moderate physical exercise is a good way to give yourself some time. Taking some frustration out on a punching bag can help. Taking a walk in a park can help restore some perspective in life.
Reconstructing your life, letting emotions flow, and giving yourself time can help you move on after a very big disappointment. Deciding to move on is a courageous step that I applaud. I don't recommend suicide over disappointment because this is a problem you can overcome. Keep a good thought and consider this to be a new beginning. To help you along I highly recommend Dr Orloff's book called Emotional Freedom.

All The Differences
There are a variety of mental disorders out there. I wish I knew the process medicine goes through to call anything negative. I bet they don't think about it, they just giver it a negative name. Consequently education looks at disorders as something to overcome rather than something to work with. People look down on you if you have a disorder. What if some of these disorders are more order than disorder? What if we are just discovering new categories for humans? Can we embrace such differences?
In an NPR article, the suggestion is made that there are more autistic children than anticipated. The article mentions a South Korean study that looked at children on the broad spectrum of autism. The study concludes that 1 out of 38 children have autism. This means that there are more autistic people out there than we want to believe. Can society come to acknowledge this? Our society is stubbornly closed to the idea that people are different. Science is increasingly showing us that individuals are more different and unique than we could imagine.
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is more and more common. If you look at the Government definition of it, you may find something of a lack of logic. It says that children who have ADHD behave out of the 'norm'. If individuals are unique then behaving out of the norm should be normal. It also states that these children's brains are different from other children. If they are different then where is the negativity to call it a disorder, or to talk about a cure or cause as if it was a disease? What is normal is a social concept. The social concept in this case is out of date. The 'normal' people work for corporations, they have wives and kids and a dog, they live in suburbia in houses made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same. This concept of normal people came from the social and humanistic thinking that spawned in the 19th century. That is a very long time ago. Consequently our public school system and most of private school models for teaching and learning is based on such antiquated idealisms. Though the science behind ADHD definition may be sound, their interpretation and application is obsolete.
Just how different is everybody? Consider the tests from today's psychology, there are personality tests, there are learning styles tests, there are Briggs-Meyers tests, and many more. Each of them depicting another difference or uniqueness we have from each other. This flies in the face of the concept of 'normal'. We are indeed individuals, but where does that leave the 'normal' people? Back in the 1970's I heard a DJ (it might have been Charlie Tuna or Casey Kasem) make one of those science revelations they did over the radio. This particular revelation stated that 70% of Americans had some kind of neurosis. Neurosis was what we term today as a disorder. That means that in the whole population that 3 in every 10 people could be called 'normal'. That makes 'normal' much more rare than we care to think. Thus 'normal' becomes not non-normal.
Education helps everyone with disorders to operate and cope in and with society. Not all of them need medication, but all need education. The problem today is that there is a lot of people not getting the educational help they could use. The primary and secondary educational systems major of educating the vast majority of students one and only one way, in mass. Then for the 'special' cases they make some recommendations or requirements for educators to help the student. If it's true that there are more people that have disorders, then the educational system needs to be restructured to accommodate the needs of the students. Such a restructuring could benefit society at large by providing students that are better equipped than they are today to function in society. Many educational programs that come out new often say that there needs to be like 1 teacher for every 10 students for education to be effective. What happens today, due to budget constraints and other reasons, is that there is often 1 teacher for every 20 to 30 students. This is a failure for education because students do not get the minimum individualized attention they need to learn skills they can use.
I think its time to reconsider, and upgrade our educational and societal philosophies to match what we've been seeing for the last 50 years. People are vastly different than anyone cares to accept. To manage people with disorders, society needs to provide them with tools to help be independent and productive citizens. If we don't change, people with disorders will do what they have resorted to, street smarts. Street smarts can be good but it can also lead to crime and gang violence.

Emotional Freedom
I am currently reading Emotional Freedom By Dr Judith Orloff. It's a great self help book on how to become emotionally free. Well that seemed rather obvious. What makes this book stand out is that it integrates Psychology and Intuition to produce a well rounded solutions to emotional problems people tend to have.
As a follow up of my last blog about Balance, Emotional Freedom can help in the area of becoming more balanced by integrating intuition into your life.
Dr. Orloff take you down an educational road where you learn more about yourself than you may have in a very long time. There are self examination tests that help you understand who and what you are. Thereby she also gives suggestions of what you need.
She spends a some time about developing the inquiring dreams for information technique for example. She also has a part of what type you prefer to be when dealing with emotions.
I have not finished this book yet, but I am enjoying it and finding more about myself than I could have hoped for. Its worth the read.

Balance
After the Second World War, Society enjoyed a time of building and engineering that lasted well into the 70's. By the time the 80's rolled around there were talks that engineering field was in trouble. Schools were failing at teaching upper and basic math. A low hum of chaos was slowly creeping in. Society was changing. We had NASA a great pillar of math and science, we had studies coming out for this and that. Numbers whizzed around conversations. Computer jobs were promised to the young generation coming out of high school. But things still changed. Now engineering jobs are not as abundant, the IT world has shunned older workers from the 80's and 90's for younger workers, outsourced to other countries, and require a bigger skill set from their workers. NASA struggles to keep the public's attention. Science research struggles to get funding. You have to wonder what happened to common sense? Where did it all go wrong? Where was the future we were promised? Our analytical and digital dreams smashed on the rocks of economic failure and shortsightedness. The United States was riding on a waive of technological innovation since World War II. That surge of tech innovation has now petered out. What we are left with is an imbalance. We have analytical knowhow and digital equipment but lack in the intuition to promote life. People in society needs to strike a balance if we are going to make it into the future.
What is striking a balance? Its really quite simple. To illustrate I will tell you a story. There once was a powerful man in northern Africa. He had wealth and means and live like he did. His doctor one day told him he had just six months to live because of a terminal disease for which there was no cure. He decided to alter his diet. He ate a little of everything that he could find. He set up a dietary regiment of a variety of foods and drinks. The man not only beat the disease but lived to be a good old age. He chose a diet of balance. He did not major on one item. He majored on all items equally. He chose to go with his intuition regardless of what doctors said. Another example is my Graduate Math Professor showed the class that applying intuition to a problem to see how it goes together makes for a faster and more complete solution. Striking a balance with intuitive thinking and analytical thinking is rewarding.
What is the nature of intuition? How does intuition differ from analytical thinking? We all think with our brains. We are all taught in school to put our thinking caps on. That's the analytical thinking we were taught. But no one has taught us how to use our intuition. Where the analytical brain estimates truth, intuition knows. Where analytics demands evidence, intuition requires non. Where analytics requires a busy mind, intuition requires a quiet mind. Where analytics caused frenzies, intuition promotes calm. In many aspect intuition and analytical thinking are opposites. So intuition become seemingly contrary to our busy hectic analytical way of thinking. Yet, intuition can be used in a way to complement analytical thinking.
How can we put the intuitional and analytical thinking to use to better our performance? When you come across a problem to calm yourself, scan your feelings about the problem, scan possible causes of the problem that pop into your head, and come up with a possible solution. Then take that solution and work out a way to figure the details out with the analytical brain. This may involve pen and paper and/or use of calculators and computers. When you are working on a problem that is big and you come across a road block, sleep on the problem. Before you go to bed that night pose your question to yourself and then record what you dream about. Sleep brings about dreams and intuitive thinking. You can often find guidance to a solution with this method. One more thing to do. On a lunch break go out for a walk, let your mind enjoy the sun, the birds, the plants, and any fountains or bodies of water. You can go back to work refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of the day. During this time let you mind wonder free. It will use intuition to sort out things and give itself a time of healing. These are only a few ideas you might want to try to incorporate intuition more in your life.
Since we grew up in a society that maximized analytical thinking, we often forget we are also intuitive beings. Understanding that a balance needs to be struck to better ourselves and our performance, understanding what intuition is, and applying practical ways to incorporate intuition can give us the much needed balance in our lives. When you start to strike a balance you may feel a little more joyous, or perhaps some relief. Our society depends on each one doing their part to strike a balance and teach the young to do the same.

Transformation
Earth is undergoing a transformation. Its a transformation that's in our faces. It involves the weather, economy, politics, social, and spiritual.
Tidal And Weather Change
Its not hard to figure out how our weather is changing. Mega hurricanes, enormous tornadoes, and tsunami's have been in the news in the last few years. Many people have lost their lives. In the 70's we had it mild compared to how it is today. We didn't know if tsunami's were real back then let alone a F5 tornado or a Category 5 hurricane. We had never seen these. The weather is definitely changing.
Economic Change
If you were off planet Earth in 2008 and 2009, you might have missed the Recession. Some have tried to call it a depression. It has cause many around the world to loose their jobs, loose assets, and cause shutdown of companies. Some have reportedly committed suicide. With new global players and consumers the shift of wealth has been very painful for many. Perhaps some still hold to the illusion that things will come back the way they were. This is only a fantasy. Economies will build back up, but they won't resemble what they were. Its going to take time for economies to get in sync and grow steadily. There is economic change in the world.
Political Change
The Middle East countries are going through severe transformations with their multiple freedom revolts. Barack Obama became president of the United States. No small feat considering he was an unknown twelve months before the election. He's African American and that rubs many people wrong. Older conservatives don't like it, thus they started the Tea Party movement. They may argue the contrary but Obama is more of a moderate than Clinton was. The existence of his Presidency shows that politics in the US is indeed changing.
Social Change
Younger generations have started to come into the work force and adulthood. These grew up with computers and the internet. They not only understand the importance of having their voice heard, they expect it and demand it. They are also suffering with the lack of jobs. They have to make due with less. Much like the generation that was ready to work during the Great Depression. That was the Great Generation. They went through the Great Depression and World War II. They sacrificed a lot. They are also the parents of the Baby Boomers. Thus, the younger generations are suffering now. How they take over the world will be the subject of history books in the future and debate for many years to come. At their hand the societies of the Earth are changing and will continue to change. It will be fascinating to watch.
Spiritual Change
Many people today are of the mind that the Human Race is going through a spiritual transformation. They call it an awakening. Though its a spiritual awakening, its is not a religious awakening. In the 18th Century there was The Great Awakening. It was a Methodist revival and it was supposedly to offset the Age Of Enlightenment The Age Of Enlightenment is where we get modern science, thus it was a freeing on analytical thinking. The Great Awakening was a religious in name but it was also spiritual in nature because of the many miracles reported and the emphasis on the Holy Spirit and the like. The Awakening that is going on is purely spiritual. Meditation, grounding/centering, and emotions are the cornerstones of this one. Experiences with dreams, seeing the future, and communicating with the departed have been increasingly reported as well as other things. It doesn't seem to matter where your from, what you look like, or what religion you claim to be. Its an awakening of the human soul and spirit. Its no surprise that this is occurring when you consider that for the longest time the global society have been concentrating on science and engineering, both of which are purely analytical. I believe this is brought about by our very nature. We are both analytical and intuitive. If we major on one then later the other will impose itself on society. If we can strike a balance then perhaps the swings in this pendulum will decrease.
There we have it, transformation. The Earth is transforming but into what? Well, were all along for this ride and we will see the end result. Rest assure that the human race will continue and find a way to keep this planet afloat.
